Meet the Team
Thomas Walsh
Thomas Walsh is the founder of Trellis Family Office. For nearly 25 years, he has advised successful individuals and multigenerational families on the opportunities, responsibilities, and complexities that accompany significant wealth.
Thomas founded Trellis around a simple idea: wealth is a resource to be thoughtfully stewarded. Great advice begins by understanding each family—their story, relationships, priorities, challenges, hopes, and vision for the future—and then bringing the different pieces of their financial lives together around what matters most to them.
Prior to founding Trellis, Thomas held senior advisory positions with Chilton Trust, Bessemer Trust, and Northern Trust, advising ultra-high-net-worth families across investment management, estate and wealth transfer planning, taxation, philanthropy, and next-generation education. He began his career as an investment professional and portfolio manager.
Thomas holds an MS in Finance from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and a BS in Finance, magna cum laude, from Florida Gulf Coast University. He is a CFA® charterholder and an honors graduate of the Cannon Trust School. He has also served as an adjunct professor of finance and continues to enjoy teaching and mentoring.
Thomas and his wife have three children and two dogs. His Christian faith is central to his life, and he actively serves in his local church, where he leads the student ministry and has the privilege of shepherding teenagers and their parents through an important, and often challenging, season of family life. That experience continually reinforces something he has seen throughout his professional career: strong families are built through relationships, trust, honest conversations, patient guidance, and a willingness to think beyond the immediate moment. Outside of work and ministry, Thomas enjoys golf, woodworking, hiking, and exploring new places.
For Thomas, Trellis is about more than managing wealth. It is about understanding the family behind it and helping them thoughtfully steward their resources with clarity, purpose, and confidence across generations.
